George Mylonas: Pioneering Surgical Robotics

George Mylonas serves as an Associate Professor in Robotics and Technology in Cancer at Imperial College London. He is also the director of the Human-centred Automation, Robotics and Monitoring in Surgery lab at The Hamlyn Centre of the Institute of Global Health Innovation. His research is aimed at advancing surgical robotics, soft robotics, and minimal access surgical technology, with a focus on developing perceptual human-robot interfaces, smart operating theatres, and data-driven practices. Mylonas is also a member of the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery Technology Committee.

Antonia Tzemanaki: Robotic Innovations in Surgery

Antonia Tzemanaki is a Senior Lecturer in Robotics at the University of Bristol and a core member of the Bristol Robotics Laboratory. Leading the Dexterous Manipulation and Wearable Robotics group, her work involves developing robotic simulators and interventions, including robotic needle steering and various surgical models for treatments addressing conditions such as cancers and neurological disorders. Her expertise spans precision manipulation, robot hands, haptics, and applications in surgery, rehabilitation, and preventive medicine.

Tom Vercauteren: Revolutionizing Medical Imaging

Tom Vercauteren holds the position of Professor of Interventional Image Computing at King’s College London, where he leads the Contextual Artificial Intelligence for Computer Assisted Interventions research group. His research focuses on the intersection of medical image computing, machine learning, and imaging technologies for surgical and interventional sciences. As co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Hypervision Surgical, a company dedicated to safe, non-invasive optical imaging during procedures, Vercauteren’s innovations are now employed in numerous hospitals worldwide. He is also an advocate for open-source software and patient involvement in research.
